Energy/Cost Saving Success Story from Corrosion Fluid Products

Corrosion Fluid Products Saves Water Treatment Plant over $60,000 in 6 months!

Corrosion Fluid Products Corp. worked with a Water Treatment Plant in Indiana to improve the cleaning process of large media filters throughout the city’s water distribution system. A portable acid system was needed that could be taken to each location and used to clean the calcification on the filters. A lightweight and acid resistant solution was required, and engineers turned to Corrosion for a solution.

A heavy duty trailer was selected that can be disconnected and used on-site for multiple days at a time. The system was then fabricated and delivered to the customer in complete working order. The fiberglass tank, piping and valves, all supplied by Corrosion Fluid Products, provided an extremely lightweight but very acid resistant system. The flexibility of the system allowed the total filter cleaning time to drop from 3 weeks to 3 days and the plant also enjoyed a significant cost savings- over $60,000 during the first half of 2009!

Pumps & Systems Magazine Names Corrosion Fluid Products "Success Story of the Year" Finalist for 2009

From the article:

Reducing Maintenance Costs for a Steel Mill Blast Furnace

A steel mill was experiencing maintenance problems with its four rubber-lined slurry pumps. The abrasiveness of the sludge would quickly wear out each pump's stuffing box sleeve and braided packing, and large solids would tear the rubber liner on the casing and impeller. Any flow interruption would cause the pumps to heat up and seize. The pumps required maintenance or rebuilding a couple times each month.

As replacement for the rubber-lined slurry pumps, Corrosion Fluid Products Corp. produced a high chrome cast pump that has a double mechanical seal with its own barrier fluid. The pump can run dry for extended periods of time and was made to combat the abrasive sludge and large solids destroying the steel mill's existing pumps.

The new pumps have been in place since 2004 and have yielded maintenance cost savings of $158,000 per year.
